Learning that you can still be connected to the outside world and still learn that I have the power to change. I control my life, my choices, and my future. My past doesn't define who I am or who I will become. My future is all in my hands. I will go on to do great things now that I have this knowledge. I'm more confident about who I am then I have been in years. Thank you to all my presenters and the staff for helping me. I went from having anxiety attacks daily to during this six week period only having three.

I have learned a tremendous amount at Saint Jude Retreats. It is a transition period in my life and I needed help to figure out how to accept and understand my life, as well as ways to help get out of a downward spiral. The presmises and tools make sense to me. I feel more confident about going back with a different perspective to circumstances that are the same. The staff here has been amazing. Every single person, in his or her own unique way, is clearly caring, empathic, upbeat and, most importantly, nonjudgmental. They create safety, when most of us feel defensive and judged. Thank you, everyone, for being that safety net. I highly recommend the program as a true non 12-Step program that provides knowledge, tools, and examples of how to resume living a positive, full life.

"Steven Slate, Mark Scheeren and Michelle Dunbar have created an indispensable guide through the labyrinth of claims about the nature of addiction to explain how this understanding leads to resolution of addiction and to overcoming it. Indeed, their thoroughly grounded scientific exploration of "the meaning of addiction" IS the basis for such personal resolution. To know that your enemy is not only your addiction, but, more importantly, how you think of it, is the key to freedom from addiction. And no volume in the world can put you in a better position for this resolution than The Freedom Model.""

"How can teaching people they are powerless be helpful? All people struggle at times in life, saying you are powerless is self-defeating and promotes helplessness and depression. The key to getting through your struggles is to tap into your own inner strength and power, find what truly makes you happy and feel good about yourself and move in that direction. The Freedom Model Program is remarkable in that it provides a curriculum and process specifically designed for self-directed change. In going through this approach, each person gains knowledge and tools they can use long after they have left the program. They are then able to face any future struggles with confidence, strength and hope for a better future."
